How We Help

Life can be a lot, the responsibilities, the expectations, the constant pull to do and be more.
Therapy offers you a space to pause, breathe, and begin finding your way back to yourself.

We help adults who are navigating anxiety, burnout, ADHD, hormonal and reproductive mental health changes, and the many transitions that come with life, work, and relationships.

You don’t have to have it all figured out. Whether you’re in your 20s trying to find your footing, balancing a busy midlife, or rebuilding after a major change, we meet you where you are with compassion, curiosity, and tools that help you grow.

Our approach is grounded in evidence based therapy, but it’s also deeply human. Together, we’ll make sense of what’s been weighing on you, strengthen your coping skills, and help you reconnect with what truly matters.

Through individual therapy we create a space where you can:

  • Navigate hormonal changes across your cycle, fertility, perimenopause, or menopause with support and balance

  • Understand your patterns and emotions with compassion, not criticism

  • Rebuild confidence, self trust, and direction

  • Learn practical tools to manage ADHD, anxiety, burnout, and overwhelm

  • Find clarity about what you need and how to give yourself permission to actually need it

Our approach is evidence based and human centred, blending strategies from CBT, ACT, and mindfulness based therapies with warmth, humour, and curiosity. We don’t believe in one-size-fits-all therapy. Together, we shape support that fits who you are and the life you’re creating.

We can help with:

  • Anxiety & Overwhelm

  • Reproductive and Hormonal Mental Health

  • Life Transitions & Identity

  • Burnout & Emotional Fatigue

  • ADHD Across the Lifespan

The goal isn’t to be perfect. It’s to feel more like yourself again. To feel calm, capable, and connected.

Meet the founder of MPause

Hi, I'm Melinda Aspell, MSW, RSW, ADHD-CCSP

Like many of the people I now support, I spent years moving quickly through life; caring, achieving, and pushing through. I loved my work in mental health and community care, but I often ignored the quiet signals telling me to slow down.

When I was diagnosed with ADHD later in life, things started to click. I began to see how my energy, creativity, and drive had always been both strengths and sources of exhaustion. That insight changed everything, not just for me personally, but for how I wanted to help others.

At the same time, I was hearing the same story from many of the clients I was working with, especially women navigating midlife transitions, peri/menopause, and burnout. They were caring for everyone else while quietly wondering: When is it my turn to pause?

That’s where MPause began. It grew from the understanding that the pause isn’t a luxury, it’s essential. It’s where reflection happens, where self trust rebuilds, and where real change begins.

Through MPause Mental Wellness, I’ve created a space that blends clinical expertise with lived experience. A place where therapy is compassionate, evidence based, and, I hope, deeply human. A space to pause, grow, and thrive in your own best life.

Booking Your First Appointment

Reaching out for therapy can feel like a big step so we try to make it as simple as possible.

You can call, email or book online to get started, whatever feels easiest for you. If calling or emailing, I’ll get back to you as quickly as I can.

Direct Billing & Insurance Coverage

Many extended health plans provide partial or full coverage for therapy with a Registered Social Worker (RSW).

If your plan allows it, I can offer direct billing so you only pay the portion not covered by your provider at the time of your session, if applicable.

If direct billing isn’t available for your plan, you’ll simply pay for your session and submit your receipt for reimbursement.

It’s always best to confirm your coverage directly with your insurance provider to see if your plan includes counselling with an RSW.

Employee Assistance Programs (EAP)

If your employer offers an Employee Assistance Program, you may be eligible for counselling sessions at no cost to you.

I currently provide therapy through several EAP providers. If you were referred through one, you’ll receive information from them with your appointment details. You’re always welcome to contact me directly if you need help scheduling or have any questions about your sessions.

NIHB Coverage

I’m an approved provider under the Non-Insured Health Benefits (NIHB) Program, which offers coverage for eligible First Nations and Inuit clients.

If you’re accessing therapy through NIHB, sessions are billed directly to the program and there are no out of pocket costs to you for sessions you have attended. I can help you confirm eligibility or guide you through the process if you’re new to the program.

Your First Session

Your first appointment is scheduled for 50 minutes and designed to help you feel comfortable right from the start. It’s not a formal assessment or diagnostic interview — it’s a conversation.

We’ll talk about what’s been happening for you, what you’d like to work on, and what’s been getting in the way. You’ll get a sense of my approach, and we’ll both decide together if it feels like a good fit. You’ll also leave with something helpful — a small step, perspective, or strategy you can use right away.
